This might sound stupid, since voting took place yesterday, but why the fuck is everybody making such a big deal out of this election! Everywhere i go i hear nothing but "Carrie sucks" or Bush is a dickhead" or other things of that nature. i am a Carrie supporter and i almost got into like 3 fights over it, infact 1 of my closest friends said she'll never speak to me again bc i told her i hate Bush!
Is it just me or are people taking this stupid election too far? this is fucking crazy and i am also royally pissed off that Bush won, u wouldnt believe the number of people who have told me i wanna kill babies (bc Carrie is for abortion).
So anyways...what do you all think? Have you all had similar experiences as of yet?
Yeah, some people blow the election way out of proportion (i.e., acting like it's the end of the world, fighting with family or friends, swearing and saying disgraceful things about the other party, etc). But whatever. THank gosh it'll all be blown over soon. We hope.

well because the election was a farce
bush would never have won without the intervention of his puppet blair, and the rigging of votes in certain states. Also the ultra religious far right who he manipulated with his pseudo ultra conservative views on stem cell research and gay rights,to secure votes, care more for his insincere preaching than his lack of intelliegence, direction and more worrying warmongering, and what is more disturbing they care not a jot for the countless young men and women from all sides who have died in Iraq!
Niblet I couldn't agree with you more. As much as election of a country is very important, people just seem to go fuckin totally craisy about it. And, to break up a friendship just because you don't like bush? WTF? That's just going too far..as much as I hate Bush my self, I wouldn't ever break up a friendship with someone just cuz they like him. But what also pisses me off more than anything, the way this election is covered, anyone'd say that it's happening here in the UK. I mean I was listening to the football game on the radio last night, but it was interrupted so they could bring the Bush speach! I mean, what the hell! And will american media cover our ellection next year like this? Somehow I don't think so! And it's so anoying, it's not just ellection, anything that happens in America is covered so much more extencevily over here more than it would if it happened in any other country! Now this what I say might turn out to be very contravercial and some people might even dislike me on this, but I have a wright to my opinion..take 9/11 tragedy as an example, as much as I am aware that this was horrible tragedy, as much as I hope that it doesn't ever happen anywhere to anyone again, as much as I feel sorry for all the people involved and with all dure respect to all the famillies that lost their because of what happened, I don't understand, why, 3 years on after the event, more coverage to this is given in the UK media than a lot of things that happened before or since that terrible event. Once again, before anyone jumps at my throat and starts hating me or says how I hate america and it's people..first let me say that I've been to the US twice so far and am hoping that I will go htere many times again, that I have american friends, some of them which I met on here and some very good american friends that I'd do anything for them, this is not about hating a country or it's people, this is more about media, and to be fare only certain media here in the UK, all I'm saying that any event like a tragedy or an election would not get nowhere neer as much coverage no matter how important it would be if it was in another country as it gets to be when it is about the US. Once again, I really did not mean to and did not want to offend anyone but all this ellection talk and even my football game being interrupted last night anoied me and inspired me to write what I did.
This is all pathetic. Today some random person i didnt even know came up to me and asked me if i hated Bush, and i said yes cuz i do, and he said something like, "Good, then i wont have to beat you up." I didnt even know him for gods sake!
As to how they're covering the election in Britain...thats even more pathetic than a bunch of stupid teenagers here trying to look cool by saying shit about the other candidate.
Is all this fighting over who people voted for or is it about values? Either way, I wish people would get their heads on straight and chill out and stop believing that anyone who disagrees with their particular ways are evil or responsible for horrible acts like baby killing. It may well be politics as usual, but I'm beginning to fear there will be a culture war if things continue down this road. Everybody seems to think their way is the only true and right way and anyone who dares to differ is ten thousand times more evil than the devil himself. Thank goodness I don't interact with people in real life that much. My values and who I vote for are my own personal private business and do not reflect on my overall character, thank you much.
Politics (sp? god i cant spel) seems to be one of the most disagreeable subjects... I mean you meet someone who says things like "well I don't know" and "Yeah whatever" about anything else but when politics come up, "Oh republican/democrat/indipendent (god forbid!:) all the way!" Odd, i'n'it?

hmm. I didn't know these things were going on. Interesting and anoying too. Well I didn't know because... well, how can I tell you, I am in a crap of school that is so freacking overprotective, restrictive and dedicated to the blind! arg. But well, my conclusion is that all this is interesting. I agree with the point we should put our heads in a straight way, not because others do have or do not have.
A thought just occurred to me as I was re-reading a favorite book. This is also in my profile, but I want to put it here. I'm not picking on one point of view or another, because I think this idea applies to everybody, no matter what side you take in the election aftermath. People will believe anything either because they fear it is true or they wish it to be true. I have another point to make, but I'll put it in another post so I don't run out of space here. It may be a tad long, so sit tight.
Now, my other point. I haven't much room to speak, as I was too late to register to vote in my new state. However, I'll say this. It's not that I hate Bush and all he stands for or love Kerry and all he stands for. I am not always sure what they stand for, as all we know is what we're told. I think what bothers me is the right-wing fringe and its possible influence. They seem to be a rather vocal minority although I'm not exactly sure what power they might have. If I imagine enough, I could believe that some might want America to be some kind of police state or a country run by very conservative religious groups, and that does not set well with me. Can't say it will happen, but I would suppose there are people who would be more than happy to help it along if they could.
